About us

We are a small team of architects, designers and building conservation consultants based in York with an established expertise in creative conservation. Over a period of fourteen years, the directors Geoffrey Holland and Kenny Brown, have collaborated on a wide range of conservation-based projects in the cultural, commercial, ecclesiastical, residential, education and hospitality sectors. They also work alongside specialist consultants in the fields of regeneration, heritage management, landscape and exhibition design. Both directors are involved at all stages of our various projects to ensure that a high level of personal service is maintained.

Our work includes the careful repair of listed buildings and historic monuments; bringing more modest redundant historic and non-historic buildings back into useful life; smaller scale residential projects and creating new buildings and extensions in historic and sensitive settings.

The Practice is pleased to be an integral member of the recently established Restoration People. Our team of highly experienced practitioners provides groups and organisations with initial help, advice and support for the development and funding of their heritage asset and assistance to lift their project off the ground.

A number of projects featured on our website were undertaken by either or both of the Directors whilst employed by Martin Stancliffe Architects Ltd or Purcell Miller Tritton LLP. These practices were commissioned to undertake these projects which are denoted by an asterisk.
